She said on "Lopez Tonight" on Monday that, quote, "they basically are just raping you in public." The remark has drawn fire from a lawyer known for taking high-profile and often controversial cases.
Gloria Allred told RadarOnline.com that Kardashian's comment was "ill-informed." She went on to say that rape is a crime of violence and the term should not be used lightly. Allred added that it was, quote, "completely inappropriate to use that word for scans or pat-downs at airports."
A communications specialist at the National Sexual Violence Resource Center went further. Jessica M. Cavey said Kardashian's remark was insensitive and, quote, "minimizes the experience of an actual rape, which is a very severe and traumatic form of violence." Kardashian has not spoken further about the issue.
