Velasquez took home the "Knockout of the Night" for his TKO victory over Brock Lesnar in the night's main event. The first round finish earned Velasquez the UFC Heavyweight Championship, and he now sits atop the division with a perfect 9-0 record.
Diego Sanchez and Paulo Thiago earned the "Fight of the Night" on the event for their extremely exciting three round bout on the night's pay-per-view card. Sanchez, who came into the fight with back to back losses, survived a couple of submission attempts from Thiago and took over the fight in the grappling department in the second and third rounds. Sanchez finished the fight with an exclamation point, getting to mount and raining down punches until the round ended.
Roberts took home the "Submission of the Night" for his excellent anaconda choke victory over Mike Guymon on the night's preliminary card. After securing the choke against the cage, Roberts used a gator roll to bring Guymon down and lock the hold on, forcing the tap.
Penick's Analysis: All of these bonuses were well deserved, and it was a good night of fights in Anaheim. Cain Velasquez's victory was excellent. He came out and simply destroyed Lesnar in that fight and now sits as the best heavyweight in the world, and it's going to be tough to knock him off of that perch. Diego Sanchez was the other story on this card, as he looked as good if not better than at any time in his UFC career. His win really opens up new opportunities for him to make another run at a title shot, whether he decides to drop back down to lightweight or not. It was a good night of fights capped off by a game-changing victory by Velasquez in the main event.
