Ke$ha Goes 'Hard' On New Single, 'We R Who We R'

Singer keeps the party going with first single from Cannibal.

Ke$ha has found a chart-topping formula — combine killer beats with lyrics about super-fun parties and hot pants. And her latest single, "We R Who We R," certainly fits that mold.

The track, the first single off her November 22 release Cannibal, hit the Internet on Thursday (October 14). It's another uber-fun tune about how awesome it is to dance the night away, with Ke$ha singing on the chorus: "Tonight we're going hard/ Just like the world is ours/ We're tearing it apart/ You know we're superstars/ we are who we are."

While the song doesn't veer much from prior club bangers like "Tik Tok" and "Take It Off," the singer admits that "We R" is in part inspired by the recent rash of suicides among gay youth. "I wanted to inspire people to be themselves," she told EW.com. "It's a celebration of any sort of quirks or eccentricities."

In January, Ke$ha released her debut album Animal and it went straight to the top of the charts. Cannibal — a nine-song set that features collaborations with Max Martin, Benny Blanco and Bangladesh — is set to be released both on its own and as a bundle with Animal.

"I don't want to go away!" she said. "I feel like I'm creating this hopefully very youthful and irreverent movement of the kids, of, like, adolescence. I feel like the parents don't get it, but the kids get it. And they deserve to have more good, positive music ... It's fun as sh--! So I wanted to give [my fans] that."

The Seventeen cover girl also tweeted a message to her fans about the tune: "WE R WHO WE R! on the radio today you guys like??? dancin liiiiike were dumbbbb we be forever younggggg."

Jay-Z Will Not Replace Mathew Knowles as Beyonce's Manager

Knowles denies rumors that he will no longer manage Beyonce's career.
By James Dinh

Jay-Z may be Beyoncé's husband, but the hip-hop heavyweight will not be managing the pop star anytime soon. According to a statement posted by the singer's management website, Music World Entertainment, Beyoncé's father, Mathew Knowles is not being replaced by Jay-Z or anyone else as her manager.

"Contrary to false rumors online, Beyoncé and her manager Mathew Knowles unequivocally have had and continue to have a close personal and business relationship. Mathew Knowles is the sole and exclusive manager of Beyoncé," the statement reads.

Mathew Knowles has always played an important part in his daughter's career, dating all the way back to her days in Destiny's Child. When the group split in 2005, Mathew continued managing Beyoncé as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. But Rowland and Williams recently parted ways with Knowles and his Music World Entertainment team. Earlier this year, he also denied claims that the trio were in talks to reunite Destiny's Child.

In addition to refuting the online rumors, the management company confirmed that the singer is working on upcoming music projects. "Furthermore, Beyoncé is readying the release of her new, highly anticipated DVD and has started the recording process for her new album," the statement concluded.

One producer that the singer may be reuniting with for her next record is Ne-Yo. The pair previously worked together on her hit single "Irreplaceable" back in 2006. Just last week, the soon-to-be father tweeted, "Mornin' NY!!! Studio with Mary J Blige last night, Beyonce tonight. I LOVE MY JOB!!! Shout out Jerry Wonder!!"

ROUNDTABLE (pt. 1 of 2): Has the UFC Primetime series for Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez made you more excited for this heavyweight clash than you already were? Hansen, Carter, Perez, Hobaugh, Leet, Rowland and Ennis

Has the UFC Primetime series for Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez made you more excited for this heavyweight clash than you already were?

RICH HANSEN, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

Primetime has failed to make me more excited for the main event of UFC 121. It's been a very dull show so far, and hasn't shed any new light to me about either fighter.

That said, there is no way I could possibly be more amped up for this fight, and this fantabulous UFC 121 card as a whole. There's nothing that the UFC could have done with Primetime to get me more geeked up for this fight than I already am.

ALVIN CARTER, MMATORCH SPECIALIST

No, I have been extremely excited about this fight since the moment it was announced. The program might be helping to sustain it, but it has not enhanced my excitement level. This is just a great main event on what has turned out to be a great card. That is all a fight fan can really ask for.

ANWAR PEREZ, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

In the spirit of what the UFC Primetime series is supposed to do, than yes, it makes the casual viewer excited for this fight. But, as fans, I feel that this type of programming should be reserved for fights that may not have the biggest draw or names in the business. Upcoming ones could include the Rampage Jackson-Lyoto Machida fight, or better yet, the rematch between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard. People know who Brock Lesnar is, so he alone sells that fight. This series should make me want to care about people I don't care about, like say, Edgar and Maynard.

ERIC HOBAUGH, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

The UFC Primetime series has been interesting, but it has done little to excite me about the fight. The series is getting better. These two excellent heavyweight fighters will have one million buys and it should be an exciting fight. The fight has a champion who has been tested and deserves his title.Velasquez has a unique set of skills that make him the legitimate number one contender. I can not wait!

LARAMEY LEET, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR

The Primetime series has hyped up the fight a bit more. I love to hear what they have to say to each other and see who they train with to prepare. Who would have thought Brock would bring Pat Barry in to help him? They are both showing a level of respect to each other and I think its going to be a war!

GREG ROWLAND, MMATORCH AUDIO CO-HOST

Primetime is fun to watch, but I don't know that it affects my desire to watch the PPV as I'd be watching it anyway!

SHAWN ENNIS, MMATORCH COLUMNIST

I was already pretty jacked for this fight before the Primetime series started, and the first couple of episodes haven't really done much for me. I think the series is a good thing - don't get me wrong. But the whole "first Mexican champion" thing doesn't really resonate with me (not that it's supposed to) and all I get from Lesnar is, "Man, this guy is a beast," which I already knew. The good thing about Lesnar as far as promoting a fight is that he doesn't need to be open about his personal life and have a big back story. His WWE past and his physical freakishness are enough to sell a fight with anyone. And for Velasquez, if fans have seen him fight before, especially the fight against Big Nog, it's not going to take much for them to want to see this fight. I think the main purpose of the primetime series in this case isn't necessarily to get to know the fighters - it's just to remind everyone that the fight is coming up.

UFC QUOTABLES: Jake Shields says Strikeforce doesn't push the right people, thinks Gilbert Melendez and Nick Diaz would be better off in the UFC

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

LogoUFC_150_572.jpg
"Yes, of course [the UFC would be the better situation for Gilbert Melendez and Nick Diaz]. Strikeforce is a good organization. But ultimately, I feel they don't push the right people. I don't feel like Nick & Gilbert have gotten the attention they deserve. They pick guys like Cung Le to push. And they push Gina Carano and Frank Shamrock. But they have Nick and Gil, who are both top five fighters in the world. UFC would be the best spot for both of them.

Yeah, definitely [I had the same complaint while I was there]. In my first fight in the UFC, they gave me way more push than Strikeforce did the whole time I was there. The UFC just knows how to market. They know how to build stars and they know what they're doing. They're really professional.

It's been my dream for the last 10 years [to be the UFC Welterweight Champion]. It would be amazing. I have an opportunity in front of me to achieve that now. I'm going to work harder than ever for the next six months. The closer I get, the harder it makes me want to work."

-Jake Shields talks to MMAFighting.com about the differences between Strikeforce and the UFC and having his dream of becoming the UFC champion in his sights.

Penick's Analysis: It's not at all surprising to hear his take on Strikeforce. There is a reason he left while still their Champion. And he's right about Diaz and Melendez. Diaz has gotten more of a legitimate push from them than Melendez, but part of it is his own undoing after failing to go for a pre-fight drug test in the summer of '09 that took him out of a planned fight on the August card. But as for Shields, it was clear just from the UFC 121 push that the UFC did more for him in one fight than Strikeforce did for him the entire time he was their Champion. It just is what it is, but he's not wrong about who Strikeforce chooses to push.
